Change of Shades
What is "Change of Shades?" It's a journey, an endeavor, and somewhat of an ambiguous term. The concept of "Change of Shades" basically boils down to that of changing one's perspective. In life everyone looks through their own lenses; their own pair of shades. They see this, and they see that, but they only see it from one perspective. Their own.
On this blog Colin Mansfield and Kona Estes are attempting something that is not for the faint hearted.
This July these two high school teenagers will be visiting France, Italy, and Spain with a group by the name of People to People. They will be traveling as Student Ambassadors of the United States, and they will be wearing that title with pride.
The tricky thing isn't the traveling in and of itself, however. While in these foreign lands, Colin and Kona plan to take off their usual set of shades, and try on a new pair. They won't merely be looking at locals as "those people", and neither will they be traveling "as tourists." Rather, Colin and Kona will be traveling as lifetime learners. They will be going from place to place acting as a sponge for information, experiences, and relationships. Through this, they hope to learn more about the world around them, and bring (as People to People would put it) "Peace Through Understanding."
Where does this all start? It all starts with a Change of Shades.
